inception to completion
the Process
Phase 1: Design & Plan
This is where it all begins- the roadmap to a successful project!
You will meet with our expert designers as well as the owner of Knabuilders, Dave Knab. Budget, time frame, overall design and most importantly- your vision of your dream project are discussed at the initial meeting, including functionality and aesthetics. This is where Dave’s decades of experience becomes an asset- Dave will offer suggestions and alternatives that could save you money, substitute materials and installation techniques. Dave will identify items such as load-bearing walls, heating/ac ducting, floor condition and prep, natural and artificial light and electrical concerns. Dave will discuss alternatives that could save both time and money!
Phase 2: Demolition
now let’s get to work.
We will remove existing appliances, old cabinets, counter tops and flooring. We will haul away and dispose of in an environmentally safe manner. This is where our exclusive “Cleanbuild” technology comes in and really pays off. We will seal off all openings (doorways etc) and install an exhaust fan. This creates negative air pressure and removes all dust particles making what could be a very messy affair a clean demolition!
Phase 3: Installation
we install all the new components.
First the walls are filled, prepped, sanded, primed and painted with high quality paint. The new flooring is laid and covered for protection. We install the cabinets perfectly level, the counter tops are installed and secured. Any new plumbing and electrical is put in place. If new windows are part of the plan then now is when they go in. This is also the time when as we progress Dave Knab might say something like “you know there is a beautiful brick chimney behind this wall. It might add to the look of your design if we leave it exposed.” Some surprises are good ones!
Phase 4: Finishing & Details
the finishing touches. the finish line!
Now we install faucets and hook-up water supplies, install light fixtures install appliances and make sure everything works as it is supposed to. All cabinet hardware is adjusted so everything works perfectly. Trim is painted and tile, grout and masonry are sealed. Lastly, the entire kitchen is scrubbed, cleaned and disinfected. Your beautiful new kitchen is ready to be the center of your house. Enjoy!
